Pluvia Sacra is the eleventh fragrance composed by Antonio Alessandria for his eponymous line. It draws its inspiration from a beautiful story that blends history and legend.

In the year 1540, the sculptor Giovanni Antonio Matinati was transporting one of his works, a wooden crucifix, to the heart of Sicily. As night fell, he sought shelter on Mount Etna in a village along his route, Randazzo. Once the night had passed, the day looked promising and the sculptor decided to set off for his destination. However, just as he was about to set off, a violent storm broke out out of nowhere, preventing the artist from beginning his journey. Mysteriously enough, the same event occurred for three consecutive days. The inhabitants of Randazzo interpreted this as a divine sign and decided to acquire the crucifix to keep it in a church, where it remains to this day.

Although the crucifix is crafted with meticulous anatomical precision (gaunt ribs, relaxed abdomen, suffering face), it is said to offer great comfort to those who venerate it.

The fragrance is inspired by wood, the material of the statue, and rain, the central element of the legend. This atmospheric phenomenon, found in many cultures and various religions, is a symbol of purification, renewal and fertility. When raindrops touch the earth, they bring with them the promise of new life, nourishing the fields and filling the rivers. This natural event can be interpreted as a sign that, after life’s storms, there is always hope for a new beginning. Moreover, rain connects the heavens with the earth, just as a scent, floating in the air, manages to connect the earth with the heavens. Both serve as instruments of communication between humanity and the divine.
