Every February, the patron saint of Catania, Sant'Agata, is celebrated with a lavish festival that dates back centuries and is renowned worldwide for its large number of participants and visitors. Dies Aurorae is the olfactory story of the emotions and memories of a young boy of about ten who is attending this ceremony for the first time, together with his father. The young protagonist of this story brings with him ‘olivette’ and ‘torrone’, typical traditional sweet treats of the festival. As he waits for the ceremony to begin, he is overwhelmed and feels almost lost by the grandeur of the event. Instinctively, he brings the treats to his mouth, chews and savours their delicious flavour: almonds, pistachios, caramelised sugar...
